EUMedRail Seminar on the role of the National Safety Authorities

The EU Agency for Railways in co-operation with the Rail Transport Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and ILT (Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate) of the Netherlands organises a seminar on the tasks and activities of National Safety Authorities (NSAs), in the scope of the EuroMed/ EUMedRail project.

Hosted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, the seminar aims to enhance the audience’s understanding of the regulatory framework and the distribution of responsibilities among different players in the railway sector, with particular attention to the NSAs duties.

Experts from Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Palestine are invited. They have the opportunity to participate in the discussions on the main principles that are fulfilled to establish an independent National safety Authority, entrusted with the regulation, management and monitoring of railway safety, in accordance with the EU directives.

The issuing, renewal, amendment and revocation of safety certificates and vehicle authorization, licenses of train drivers and supervision tasks will be covered in the agenda.

Moreover, the EUMedRail experts seconded to the Agency will present their work on monitoring and reporting. Following the seminar, the participants will attend a technical visit to the Port of Rotterdam and visit the APM terminal Maasvlakte2.
