The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) implements a Contribution Agreement "EU support on transposition and implementation of the EU railway acquis by the European Union Agency for Railways" (2024 - 2026) with the European Commission's Directorate General DG NEAR. Under this Agreement, the EU candidate and potential candidate countries (Serbia, Turkey, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo* and Albania) will benefit from support of ERA. In this context, ERA will organize a Workshop on Conformity Assessment (Modules).

Conformity assessment is the process carried out by a manufacturer to demonstrate whether specific requirements relating to a product have been fulfilled. In the EU legislation, conformity assessment procedures, called also "modules", cover both design and production phases of a product. The subjects, to be covered during the workshop will be:

  • Introductions to the principles of third party independent assessment
  • The roles of the Notified Bodies (NoBos), Designated Bodies and Conformity Assessment Bodies17
  • The NoBo monitoring scheme and the work of the European Commission and the EU Agency for Railways
  • NB-RAIL and its tasks and duties

The target audience of this workshop are manufacturers, Railway undertakings, Infrastructure Managers and authorities of the project beneficiaries.
