Transport of rail passengers in Israel is on the rise since the 80’s and demand is going to continue growing according to the projections forecasted by the Railway Plan 2040 presented by the Ministry of Transport. In order to meet this increasing demand, Israel has planned to expand the railway network and construct railway tunnels.

Josef Doppelbauer, ERA Executive Director, signed today the Single Safety Certificate for Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal Srl. This certificate is valid for a period of five years and the area of operation covers Italy.

The biennial report highlights progress with railway safety and interoperability in the EU and allows an in-depth understanding of the European railways situation and its evolution over time.
